Witchburn Distillery has announced a new equity programme as construction nears completion, offering investors the opportunity to participate in the launch of Campbeltown’s newest distillery.
The project is backed by Brave New Spirits, a Glasgow-based independent bottler operating in over 40 countries and recently named Independent Bottler of the Year at the Icons of Whisky Awards.
Located on the site of a former RAF Machrihanish military base, Witchburn is the first new distillery in Campbeltown in decades. The distillery has been designed as a fully fossil fuel-free operation, incorporating an electric steam boiler system as part of its sustainability-focused approach.
With distillation expected to begin in 2026, the site will have an annual production capacity of 2.7 million litres of alcohol and will be capable of producing unpeated, lightly peated and heavily peated spirit, alongside high-temperature distillation styles inspired by traditional direct-fire methods.
As part of the final development phase, the company is seeking 15 to 20 investors, each committing £300,000 in exchange for a 1% equity stake. The programme also includes access to limited cask allocations, alongside a range of exclusive benefits, such as founder-only bottlings and distillery events.
Participants will have the option, after five years of production, to sell their stake back to the distillery for £400,000, or remain involved as long-term partners.
Co-founder Alex Springensguth described the initiative as an opportunity to be involved at the earliest stage of the distillery’s development, combining ownership with direct access to its future whisky production.
Once operational, Witchburn will join a small group of active producers in Campbeltown, contributing to the continued revival of one of Scotland’s most historic whisky regions.
