The GlenAllachie 12-Year-Old has been crowned World’s Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards, marking the second time the Speyside distillery has claimed the prestigious title. The recognition follows its 2021 win with the 10-Year-Old Cask Strength Batch 4.
Founded in 1967 and acquired by Billy Walker in 2017, The GlenAllachie has transitioned from supplying premium blends to becoming a renowned single malt producer. Under Walker’s guidance, the distillery has gained global recognition for its Sherry-forward maturation and signature heather honey house style.
The award-winning 12-year-old (UK RRSP £58) was matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry, red wine, and virgin oak casks. Judges highlighted its profile of “dried apple, gourmet chutney, orange zest, nutmeg, and cinnamon.”
Walker commented: “To win the title twice in such a short timeframe is beyond our wildest dreams. This recognition of our flagship expression is a testament to our pursuit of perfection—not just consistency.”
