Wight Whisky has unveiled its No.1 Single Malt, the first whisky of its kind ever crafted on the Isle of Wight. Following the successful 2024 debut of their Signature Malt Blend, this release marks a major milestone for the distillery.
Handmade at New Farm within the historic Nunwell Estate, Wight Whisky’s inaugural single malt is distilled using locally grown barley from Isle of Wight Grain and pure island spring water supplied by Wight Crystal. The result is a limited edition whisky that reflects the unique coastal terroir of the island — shaped by sea air, sun-drenched days, and nutrient-rich soil.
According to Lucy Gregg, Co-Founder of Wight Whisky:
“Our No.1 Single Malt is the purest expression of our island — the first of its kind, it has been shaped by long sunlit days, salty sea air and the richness of our island’s precious soil. Every sip tells a story of local barley, island spring water and the passionate hands that brought them together.”
This small-batch whisky offers notes of caramel, baking spice, candied peel, and a hint of sea salt on the nose, leading into a palate of toasted vanilla, creamy fudge, dark chocolate, and subtle smoke. The finish is smooth, rich, and lingering.
Bottled at 45% ABV and presented in a plastic-free 70cl bottle, the No.1 Single Malt comes in a sustainably designed gift box. Only 400 individually numbered bottles have been released, priced at £125, and available exclusively at wightwhisky.com.
The distillery continues to work closely with local island partners to support and preserve the Isle of Wight’s economy and environment. All packaging components — from the compostable tamper-proof seal to the recyclable glass bottle — align with Wight Whisky’s eco-conscious values.
