Aberfeldy Distillery Celebrates 25 Years of Its Visitor Centre with a Limited 22-Year-Old Oloroso Release

Aberfeldy Distillery, the Highland home of Dewar’s blended Scotch whisky, is marking 25 years since the opening of its visitor centre and whisky experience with a new limited edition single malt: Aberfeldy 22 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish.

Released as part of the Exceptional Cask Series, this anniversary bottling is limited to just 552 bottles worldwide, reinforcing Aberfeldy’s continued emphasis on small-batch, high-quality expressions.

The whisky began its maturation in traditional oak before being finished in Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, Spain. Malt Master Stephanie Macleod carefully monitored the finishing period to ensure the Oloroso influence brought “depth, warmth, and additional layers of fruit and spice” without overpowering the whisky’s natural character.

“With finishing, the goal is always to complement, never mask, the whisky’s inherent qualities,” said Macleod. “It felt like the perfect way to mark 25 years of welcoming visitors to the distillery—by sharing a whisky that reflects the character and craft we’ve become known for.”

The result is a 22-year-old single malt with a rich profile of sweet orchard fruits, caramelised apples, vanilla and heather honey, supported by toasted oak and gentle clove notes.

Bottled at 46% ABV and priced at £195, this limited release is available exclusively from the Aberfeldy Distillery and its online store.

The release coincides with the distillery’s quarter-century milestone as one of the Highlands’ top whisky tourism destinations. Since its opening in 1999, the visitor centre has become a staple of the Scottish whisky trail, offering immersive experiences in both Aberfeldy single malt and Dewar’s blended Scotch.

Throughout 2025, the distillery will host special tastings, behind-the-scenes tours, and celebratory events, giving enthusiasts the opportunity to explore Aberfeldy’s heritage and award-winning craftsmanship.
