Pernod Ricard’s Scotch whisky arm, Chivas Brothers, has unveiled further details of its donations to this year’s Distillers One of One charity auction, including the remarkable Glenlivet 60 Year Old “Spira.”
Taking place on 10 October at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh, in collaboration with Sotheby’s, the auction will feature some of the rarest and most exceptional Scotch whiskies ever released. Among them, the Glenlivet Spira stands out as the oldest whisky ever bottled by the distillery, expected to raise between £60,000 and £110,000.
The release is presented in a bespoke decanter, designed to reflect the swirling vapours inside Glenlivet’s copper stills and the natural eddies of the River Livet.
Official tasting notes describe the whisky as offering:
- Nose: homemade orange marmalade, apple, raisin cake, sweet liquorice, salted caramel, lemon zest and Earl Grey tea.
- Palate: ripe pear, sweet kiwi, vanilla nougat, ripe apricot, heather honey, roasted pistachios and cinnamon.
The Glenlivet 60 Year Old Spira, bottled at cask strength, represents a landmark in the distillery’s history and a highlight of this year’s charity auction.
