Meet the makers who star alongside Harrison Ford in Glenmorangie’s Once Upon a Time in Scotland film series
Glenmorangie’s whisky makers are inviting visitors to go behind the scenes at their award-winning distillery for the very first time. For a limited period, some of the most experienced Distillers of Tain will lead Meet the Makers tours, offering exclusive insights into the creation of Glenmorangie Highland single malt Scotch whisky.
Since several of these distillers also star alongside Harrison Ford in the Once Upon a Time in Scotland film series, visitors may want to bring their selfie sticks.

180 Years of Distilling Expertise
For more than 180 years, the Distillers of Tain have crafted Glenmorangie’s elegant, imaginative whiskies. This small, close-knit team watches over the distillery’s unusually tall stills – the tallest in Scotland – which allow for extra layers of taste and aroma. The spirit is then matured in some of the world’s finest casks, resulting in one of the most highly awarded Highland single malts.

Their dedication and personality are showcased in Glenmorangie’s 12-episode series, Once Upon a Time in Scotland. Alongside Ford, the distillers’ skill, Highland wit, and warmth of character quickly steal the show.
Meet the Makers
Welcoming guests on the Meet the Makers tours are:
- Alan Duff Senior & Alan Duff Junior
- Dougie Murray
- Gordy Mackay
Together, they bring nearly a century of combined Glenmorangie experience. On the tour, visitors will explore the Still House and Mash House, ask in-depth questions, and hear personal stories about their time at the distillery – including what it was like to star with Hollywood royalty.
Memorable moments from the film series are also likely to come up, including Ford’s reaction when Gordy introduces himself as a “Mash man” – to which Ford replies: “There’s a mosh pit?!”
Old & Rare Tasting Experience
Alongside the new tours, Glenmorangie is also offering a daily Old & Rare Warehouse Tasting, where guests can sample four rare Glenmorangie expressions in one of the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses.
A Warm Highland Welcome
Ellie Goss, Glenmorangie’s Director of Hospitality and Corporate Affairs, commented:
“We are so excited to offer our unique Meet the Makers tours to visitors for the first time ever. This is a rare opportunity for whisky lovers, as well as locals who may have enjoyed our classic tour before, to learn about the inner workings of Glenmorangie from the real people who make it. With decades of expertise, our Distillers of Tain know everything there is to know about our exceptional single malt – and I have no doubt that they will give every visitor the same warm Highland welcome as they gave to Harrison Ford.”
