The GlenAllachie Unveils Sinteis Part II

The GlenAllachie has announced the release of Sinteis Part II, the latest expression in its experimental Sinteis Series, following the debut bottling earlier this year.

Named after the Gaelic word for “synthesis,” the Sinteis Series is built on a dual cask maturation philosophy, bringing together two distinct cask styles to showcase balance and innovation.

For Part II, the whisky was matured in a combination of oloroso sherry casks and Scottish virgin oak casks, creating a bold interplay of flavours. Bottled at 58.3% ABV and at natural cask strength, it invites whisky lovers to explore the “untapped potential” of native Scottish oak.

Master distiller Billy Walker shared:

“With Part II, I wanted to shine a light on the character of Scottish virgin oak — a rare and distinctive choice in maturation. By pairing its bold personality with the familiar depth of oloroso sherry, the result is both adventurous and timeless.”

According to Walker, tasting notes include indulgent layers of vanilla, honeycomb, and mocha from the virgin oak, alongside warm spice and rich fruit from the oloroso sherry casks.

The release follows a stellar year for GlenAllachie, whose 12 Year Old was named World’s Best Single Malt at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards. The distillery has also made strides in sustainability with the installation of a mechanical vapour recompression (MVR) system, projected to deliver over 90% energy savings in wash distillation.
