The GlenAllachie has announced a special release to mark Lunar New Year 2025: an 11-Year-Old Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, and Virgin Oak Cask Finish single malt Scotch whisky. This celebratory edition, priced at approximately £77, is designed to honor the Year of the Snake, showcasing the distillery’s craftsmanship and cask innovation.
Under the guidance of renowned master distiller Billy Walker, this single malt has been carefully aged in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks from Spain, along with toasted and charred virgin oak barrels. After 11 years of maturation, the whisky offers an indulgent flavor profile featuring notes of pear and ginger cake, orange peel, and butterscotch sauce.
This release also debuts bespoke packaging, including a green carton with gold foil and embossed details, symbolizing the wood element of this Lunar New Year. Adding to its collectible appeal, each bottle is adorned with a 3D gold-colored snake charm.
Bottled at 48% ABV, unchill filtered, and without artificial coloring, the Year of the Snake Edition exemplifies The GlenAllachie’s dedication to quality and innovation.
Commenting on this release, Walker shared his enthusiasm:
“The team and I are thrilled to unveil this very special bottling for Lunar New Year. Having traveled to numerous Asian countries this year, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible demand and appreciation for Scotch whisky in the region. We believe this expression is a worthy toast to the occasion, and we wish our Asian friends a healthy and prosperous new year.”
The Year of the Snake Edition will be available in specialist retailers across Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, and Hong Kong. A limited number of bottles will also be offered through the distillery and its online shop in January.
