Smokehead, the Islay single malt whisky brand owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, has introduced a 15-year-old expression to its lineup — marking the oldest age-stated whisky currently available from the brand.
First launched in 2006, Smokehead has built a reputation for targeting a younger, unconventional whisky audience through bold packaging and innovative finishes. The new Smokehead 15-Year-Old follows in the footsteps of the now-discontinued Extra Black 18-Year-Old, offering a more mature take on the brand’s heavily peated style.
Bottled at 43% ABV, the whisky delivers classic Islay characteristics with a twist: peat smoke, vanilla ice cream, lemon zest, sweet citrus, and briny coastal notes.
Brand director Karen Walker described the new release as “our most outspoken expression,” adding: “Its peaty, citrus, and smoky notes take the Smokehead concept to an exciting new level and one which will appeal to those who are adventurous and who don’t stay within boundaries.”
The 15-Year-Old joins a portfolio of non-age-stated expressions that includes Terminado (Tequila cask finish), Blast (Sherry cask influence), Twisted Stout, and Rebel (Rum cask finish).
Smokehead 15-Year-Old is available now in the UK and internationally, with a recommended retail price of £69.99 for a 700ml bottle.
