Rosebank Distillery has introduced an extraordinary 33-year-old single malt whisky, offering collectors and enthusiasts a rare glimpse into its legacy. Limited to just 107 bottles, this expression draws from stocks salvaged before the distillery’s closure in 1993, making it a true rarity in the world of whisky.
Nicknamed the “King of the Lowlands,” Rosebank is renowned for its delicate, floral character. Cask number 3469, bottled at 46.6% ABV, showcases vibrant tropical aromas, a silky mouthfeel with hints of cinnamon and chamomile, and a finish rich in warming oak. Each bottle is presented in a natural wood tube with intricate metal detailing shaped like rose petals, reflecting the distillery’s signature craftsmanship.
This exceptional release will be available from November 20, 2024, exclusively in global travel retail through locations such as Edinburgh, London Heathrow, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Zurich, and Taipei airports. The whisky is priced at £5,500 on a first-come, first-served basis.
Emma Oakes, Rosebank Blender, highlights the whisky’s distinctiveness, stating:
“This dram exemplifies the qualities that earned Rosebank its reputation as the ‘King of the Lowlands.’ It’s an exceptional find for travellers seeking to expand their collection with something truly rare.”
William Ovens, Head of Global Travel Retail at Ian MacLeod Distillers, adds:
“This release reflects Rosebank’s unique production process, combining triple distillation with worm tub condensers. With just 107 bottles, it’s a special piece of Rosebank’s history for collectors worldwide.”
Owned by Ian MacLeod Distillers, Rosebank Distillery was meticulously restored over the past four years and reopened in June 2024. The revitalized distillery in Falkirk blends historical charm with modern innovation, reaffirming its place in the whisky world.
Back in May, we shared the exciting news of Rosebank’s final release in their Legacy Series—a 32-year-old Scotch whisky accompanied by a bespoke orchestral composition inspired by its exquisite flavors.
