Johnson Reserve has reached an extraordinary milestone with its latest release, Ascension, now officially recognized by Guinness World Records for The Greatest Variety of Flavours in a Whisky.
The creation of Ascension involved an innovative maturation process. A single cask of aged single malt was sequentially matured through 33 distinct casks, each contributing unique flavors to the whisky. This meticulous progression included Madeira Barrique, Mezcal Barrels, Rivesaltes Barrique, Marsala Barrique, Ruby Port, Pedro Ximénez, and Armagnac casks, among others. The whisky’s remarkable flavor profile is entirely derived from these cask transitions, with no blending involved, highlighting the pure artistry of cask interaction.
A Guinness World Records adjudicator confirmed the achievement, recognizing the one-of-a-kind maturation technique that underpins Ascension.
