International Beverage has unveiled Old Pulteney Polaris, a 47-year-old single malt Scotch whisky created exclusively for the 2025 Distillers One of One charity auction. This is the oldest expression ever released by Old Pulteney, and a singular opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind piece of the distillery’s history ahead of its 200th anniversary in 2026.
Polaris, named after the North Star, reflects both the brand’s seafaring legacy and its future direction. The whisky, aged for 40 years in American oak casks and finished for 7 years in a first-fill Spanish oak butt, will be presented in a 1.5-litre decanter at 43.6% ABV, alongside a 100ml tasting sample.
Encased in a striking sculptural display made from Caithness slate and native silver, the bottle also features reclaimed copper from Old Pulteney’s stills—a nod to the distillery’s craftsmanship and coastal heritage. The bespoke design was crafted in collaboration with artisans including Glasstorm, the Tain-based glass specialists.
Two of whisky’s most respected voices have praised the expression. Dave Broom noted its waxy, late-harvest fruit character and coastal salinity, while Jonny McCormick described waves of grilled pineapple, espresso foam, and toasted spice layered over a rich mineral backbone.

Polaris is valued between £26,000 and £40,000, and will go under the hammer at the Distillers One of One auction on 10 October 2025 at Hopetoun House, Edinburgh.
The auction supports the Youth Action Fund, with over £4.3 million raised to date for charities improving the lives of young people in Scotland.
