Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers has unveiled a new addition to its Old Perth range: Old Perth Amontillado Sherry Cask Matured, a blended malt Scotch whisky finished for almost three years in first-fill Amontillado sherry casks.
The whisky is built from Speyside single malts, initially matured in a mix of American and European oak sherry casks, with some liquid drawn from the Old Perth solera system. The final finishing in Amontillado casks adds what the producer describes as “structure, restraint, and nutty elegance.”
According to master blender Graeme Mackeddie, “We wanted to build a whisky that captures that nuance and takes Old Perth in a slightly unexpected, but still unmistakably sherried, direction.”
Tasting notes include hazelnut, almond, dried apricot, and amaretti.
Old Perth Amontillado Sherry Cask Matured is bottled at 52.8% ABV and is available now from selected retailers, with a suggested retail price of £58.
