Scotland’s vibrant whisky industry has gained a new player with the launch of Living Souls, an independent bottler based in Glasgow. The brand is making its debut with an impressive four-whisky lineup, crafted to intrigue both enthusiasts and collectors alike. Batch #1 marks the company’s first collection, which includes a 15-Year-Old Blended Scotch, 18-Year-Old Ledaig Single Malt, 19-Year-Old Islay Blended Malt, and an aged 40-Year-Old Blended Scotch. These expressions are available for a limited time across Scotland, the UK, and select European markets.
Behind Living Souls are three seasoned whisky professionals: John Torrance, former head of operations at Douglas Laing and Tullibardine; Jamie Williamson, founder of Kilninian Drinks Co.; and Calum Leslie, known for PeatReekers and his work with Loch Lomond Group. Together, they bring over 30 years of industry experience to a brand they hope will deliver unique, memorable expressions for special occasions and connoisseur collections.
Each whisky in Batch #1 brings a distinct experience:
- 15-Year-Old Blended Scotch (46% ABV): Matured through Living Souls’ solera system, this blend brings flavors of sherry, coastal breeze, and savory tapas. Price: £49.50.
- 18-Year-Old Ledaig Single Malt (41% ABV): Crafted with both Ledaig and Tobermory malts, it combines apple freshness with a soft smoke for an ideal autumnal dram. Price: £100.
- 19-Year-Old Islay Blended Malt (42% ABV): Known as a “Kildalton” blend, this Islay release carries classic peat smoke and sea salt notes. Price: £135.
- 40-Year-Old Blended Scotch (41.2% ABV): This sophisticated blend from a 1998 sherry butt exudes rich fruit, subtle spice, and deep complexity. Price: £125.
According to Jamie Williamson, each expression was selected to offer a balanced range of flavor profiles while upholding high-quality standards. John Torrance emphasized the company’s vision of creating immersive whisky experiences, while Calum Leslie spoke to the brand’s focus on crafting flavors that stand out in the market.
Available through specialist UK retailers and Alba Import in Germany, the series is expected to expand to additional European countries soon. Find stockists and more information at livingsoulswhisky.com.
