With 50 days left until the holidays, some distilleries are already busy with festive preparations – among them, Wolfburn Distillery with their Christmas Edition 2024 release, titled “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.” This seasonal edition is now available via Wolfburn website.
For this year’s Christmas bottling, Wolfburn selected three Oloroso sherry butts filled in 2014. The result is a 10-year-old whisky, offered for the first time in two sizes: 0.7 and 0.35 liters. A total of 1,660 bottles have been released, each bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and natural in color.
The packaging of the 2024 Christmas Edition is also holiday-themed, with slight design variations for the large and small bottles.
Tasting Notes from Wolfburn Distillery
ON THE NOSE – Delicate sherry sweetness combines with hints of figs and raisins, complemented by touches of vanilla and oak.
ON THE PALATE – Tremendous depth of flavor. Bold notes of chocolate and dark fruits abound, with overtones of caramel and vanilla, alongside gentle hints of nutmeg and oak smoke.
FINISH – Silky tannins lend a beautifully textured finish; a residual sweetness lingers with dried fruit and caramel notes to the very end.
