Midleton Very Rare 2025 has officially launched, continuing the legacy of one of Ireland’s most prestigious whiskey series while celebrating the 200th anniversary of Midleton Distillery.
This year’s edition (40% ABV) is a blended Irish whiskey, composed of single pot still and single grain whiskeys drawn from over four decades of distillate. All components were matured in refill ex-American whiskey barrels, selected to highlight the depth of character and tradition behind Midleton’s approach to maturation.
Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman led the blending team, beginning with the meticulous selection of rare whiskeys from the distillery’s A2 Warehouse. The final blend includes six distinct distillate styles, showcasing the legacy and innovation of generations of whiskey makers. Notably, the 2025 release includes an increased pot still contribution and features three grain whiskey styles, including a 22 Year Old special grain whiskey and a 21 Year Old rare grain whiskey — each contributing to the blend’s richness and balance.
Midleton Very Rare 2025 offers an aromatic profile of caramelised apple, toffee fudge, vanilla, mint, lavender, cinnamon, nutmeg, and classic pot still spice. On the palate, it delivers honeycomb, white pepper, soft fruits, citrus, toffee, and sugar-glazed orchard fruits, offering a whiskey that bridges heritage with finesse.
As O’Gorman notes, “This milestone release not only pays tribute to the past but also looks to the future,” reflecting Midleton’s continued commitment to laying down exceptional whiskeys for future generations.
Midleton Very Rare 2025 is now available via select specialist retailers at an RRP of £220.
