Mac-Talla is marking this year’s Fèis Ìle with a new limited-edition Islay single malt, finished in first-fill Amarone wine casks sourced from Italy’s Valpolicella region. The bottling will be available from May 16, 2025, with a recommended retail price of £78 / €91.
The whisky was matured in European oak and finished for 18 months in a combination of one first-fill Amarone butt and one partial refill European oak butt, followed by an additional 6 months in Amarone casks. Bottled at 53.3% ABV, this non-age-statement release combines the robust peatiness of Islay with the rich, dark fruit depth of Amarone wine.
Official tasting notes describe stone fruits and dark chocolate on the nose and palate, with a long finish of warming peat.
Visitors to Islay during Fèis Ìle 2025 (23–31 May) can also participate in Mac-Talla’s special events, where the new release will be featured.
The Mac-Talla Amarone Cask limited edition will be available in the UK, EU, and select international markets via specialised whisky retailers.
