Littlemill, Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery, has unveiled its latest creation – the Cask Reflections Collection, marking a bold step in reviving its rare and treasured whiskies. This annual release series draws from the distillery’s limited remaining stocks, offering whisky enthusiasts an exciting fusion of tradition and innovation.
The first in this series, Cask Reflections Release No.1, is a 33-year-old single malt whisky that matured in refill bourbon barrels before spending an additional four months in Japanese Mizunara oak casks. This careful cask selection by Master Blender Michael Henry enriches the whisky’s signature floral and fruity Lowland profile with the exotic spiciness of Mizunara oak, creating a complex and refined flavour.
Henry noted: “The Mizunara oak brings out the delicate elderflower and fruity notes of Littlemill while adding a layer of sandalwood spice. It’s a balance of the distillery’s heritage with a modern twist.”
Only 570 bottles of Cask Reflections Release No.1 are available globally, priced at £3,800. Each bottle is presented in a custom Glencairn Crystal decanter, housed in a stunning wooden box adorned with Japanese art-inspired designs.
The whisky will be available from 12th September 2024 through Berry Bros. & Rudd, with wider availability from 24th September via the Littlemill website and selected retailers.
