The Samhain Series celebrates Scotland’s haunting folklore with a limited-edition release of six single-cask Scotch whiskies, each embodying a tale of ancient Celtic myth. This series marks the spirit of Samhain, the precursor to Halloween, with each release designed to capture the essence of Scotland’s eerie history through both taste and design.
Created by renowned Edinburgh-based artist Steven Shand, the labels are intricately illustrated to reflect the legends each whisky represents. Shand, with over 13 years in the whisky industry, has crafted visually compelling artwork to complement each whisky’s unique profile.
The six Samhain Series whiskies include:
- Grizel & The West Bow Saint – 30-Year-Old North British Single Grain Scotch, Refill Peated Octave, 57 bottles.
- Hunting For The Gorbals Vampire – 5-Year-Old Glasgow Lowland Single Malt, Refill Octave, 62 bottles.
- The Devil Checkmates the Wolf – 10-Year-Old Auchroisk Speyside Single Malt, 1st Fill PX Octave, 62 bottles.
- The Each Uisge of the River Spey – 10-Year-Old Benrinnes Speyside Single Malt, 1st Fill PX Octave, 55 bottles.
- The Ritual of Oak & Mistletoe – 10-Year-Old Teaninich Highland Single Malt, 1st Fill PX Octave, 46 bottles.
- The Witch of Beinne A’Ghlo – 10-Year-Old Blair Athol Highland Single Malt, Refill Octave, 53 bottles.
These casks were selected to offer a rich and varied tasting experience, with Shand’s artwork as a visual tribute to Scotland’s traditions. Limited quantities are available online via the Lady of the Glen website, with wider availability through retail and export partners. Each release was bottled by hand in Dalgety Bay, Scotland, encapsulating the dedication behind this unique series.
