In a remarkable celebration of Scottish heritage and craftsmanship, Lalique Group-owned The Glenturret Distillery has released a special edition 18-year-old single malt whisky to mark the 100th anniversary of the iconic Gleneagles Hotel. This exclusive release, crafted in collaboration with Glenturret’s renowned whisky maker Bob Dalgarno, is a tribute to a century of elegance and tradition at the prestigious Perthshire estate.
Limited to just 600 hand-numbered bottles, the Glenturret Gleneagles Centenary Edition is a collector’s dream, with each 700ml bottle retailing at £350. Boasting a robust ABV of 46.5%, this whisky embodies the rich flavors and aromas that Glenturret is celebrated for. The nose is greeted with warm ginger, cinnamon, and spice, delicately balanced by sun-ripened summer fruits, caramelized sugar, and dried fruits. On the palate, expect a luscious experience of ripe red berries reminiscent of a summer harvest, intertwined with the creamy smoothness of velvety vanilla ice cream.
This limited edition whisky is exclusively available at The Still Room within the Gleneagles hotel’s Retail Arcade, a space that houses an impressive collection of over 200 whiskies. Adding to its allure, each purchase includes a complimentary tour of The Glenturret, Scotland’s oldest distillery, founded in 1763.
Daniel Baernreuther, General Manager at Gleneagles, expressed the significance of this collaboration, stating, “This limited edition release is more than just a whisky; it is a tribute to the vibrant history and cherished moments that define Gleneagles. It captures the essence of Perthshire, inviting whisky lovers to partake in our rich heritage. Our partnership with The Glenturret Distillery celebrates a shared commitment to craftsmanship and excellence, merging centuries-old traditions with innovative spirit-making.”
With its deep connection to both Glenturret and Gleneagles, this release is a fitting tribute to the longstanding relationship between the two establishments, each synonymous with Scottish luxury and history. While a select number of bottles will be available to the public through a ballot, the majority will be offered exclusively to residents of the Gleneagles hotel, making this whisky a truly unique and coveted offering.
Established in 1924, just a few miles from Glenturret, the Gleneagles hotel has long been a symbol of Scottish hospitality and grandeur. This centenary release not only celebrates its past but also looks forward to continuing a legacy of excellence in the years to come.
