The Glasgow Distillery is back with an exciting new release for whisky enthusiasts, introducing its 2024 Cask Strength Editions of two of its most beloved expressions: Glasgow 1770 The Original Cask Strength Batch 02 and Glasgow 1770 Peated Cask Strength Batch 02. Following the success of the first batch, these cask-strength versions offer a chance to taste the whisky in its purest, most intense form, straight from the cask.
Both releases are the result of meticulous cask selection, with each batch composed of three carefully chosen casks that highlight the distinct profiles of peated and unpeated expressions of Glasgow 1770 single malt. These whiskies are designed to give a more direct connection to the distillery’s craftsmanship, allowing enthusiasts to experience the bold, unfiltered character of the whisky.
The Original Cask Strength Batch 02 is bottled at a strong 59.5% ABV, with a limited run of 750 bottles, offering a marriage of fruity and rich flavors. Expect vibrant notes of Seville orange marmalade, dried apricot, toffee apple, and poached pear, followed by dark fruits and a luscious vanilla finish.
For those who prefer a smokier dram, the Peated Cask Strength Batch 02, bottled at an even higher 60.7% ABV and limited to 1000 bottles, brings a smoky, BBQ-forward profile. Its flavors feature tobacco leaf, smoked Iberico ham, poached plums, dried apricot, and a touch of flamed orange zest.
