Douglas Laing Releases Limited Edition The Epicurean Three Wood Finish

Douglas Laing & Co. has unveiled a new limited edition Lowland Malt Scotch Whisky: The Epicurean Three Wood Finish. Bottled at a robust 54.1% ABV and limited to just 1,920 bottles worldwide, this small batch release celebrates barrel craft and the versatility of Lowland whisky.

While the whisky’s initial maturation details have not been disclosed, the finishing process involved three distinct cask types:

  • Virgin Oak, imparting bold spice and toasted richness
  • Ex-Bourbon, delivering layers of vanilla and honeyed sweetness
  • Ex-Sherry, adding a luxurious fruitiness and mellow warmth

Together, these cask influences produce a complex and harmoniously layered Lowland malt, exemplifying why The Epicurean is dubbed a “Master of Versatility.”

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Bright citrus, vanilla cream and toasted oak, followed by honeyed sweetness, dried fruits and nutty spice
Palate: Silky texture with waves of vanilla, baking spices, baked apple and golden syrup, underpinned by sherried depth and warmth
Finish: Long, smooth and gently spiced, with notes of toffee, dark fruits and subtle oak dryness

Uncoloured and non-chill filtered, this whisky is presented with a premium foil-embossed label, reflecting The Epicurean’s dedication to authenticity and quality.

Chloe Wood, Brand Manager at Douglas Laing, commented:

“We believe flavour is developed throughout the whisky-making process, but it comes alive in maturation. The Epicurean Three Wood Finish is proof of that – a wonderfully versatile Lowland Malt, layered with richness, spice and sweetness. It’s a celebration of both wood and whisky in perfect harmony.”

The Epicurean Three Wood Finish is available now in select global markets, with a recommended retail price of £65.00 / €77.00.
