Celebrating 200 Years of Cardhu Distillery: A Tribute to Women Pioneers

Cardhu Distillery is marking its 200th anniversary this year with a special event celebrating the influential women of Cardhu, alongside the launch of a limited-edition expression.

The event, titled “A Celebration of Cardhu’s Pioneering Women,” will take place on International Women’s Day (Friday, March 8). Attendees will enjoy a guided tasting of the anniversary bottling and engage with a panel of experts. The event will also include a welcome drink, cocktail masterclass, and live music.

The anniversary bottling features a 12-year-old Cardhu matured exclusively in ex-wine casks, a first for the distillery. Inspired by Helen and Elizabeth Cumming, the pioneers behind the brand, known for challenging conventions during the era of illicit distilling.

The packaging of the bottle depicts Helen Cumming holding a red flag, symbolizing her efforts to conceal illicit stills from authorities.

Roselyn Burnett, Cardhu Distillery brand home manager and event speaker, emphasized the distillery’s legacy of pioneering women, reflecting on the courage and innovation of the Cumming family.

Eve Murphy, whisky specialist and panel expert, highlighted the collaborative effort to create the anniversary edition, paying homage to the inspiring legacy of Helen and Elizabeth Cumming.

This commemorative release represents a blend of tradition and innovation, showcasing Cardhu’s commitment to quality and heritage.
