Buffalo Trace Distillery has announced the return of two highly sought-after expressions from the Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. collection: Four Grain Bourbon and Cured Oak Bourbon.
The 2026 release sees Four Grain joining Buffalo Trace’s portfolio as an annual limited release, while Cured Oak returns as a rare, limited-edition bottling for bourbon enthusiasts and collectors alike.
E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain Becomes an Annual Release
Originally launched in 2017, E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain Bourbon is crafted from a mash bill featuring all four traditional whiskey grains:
- 🌽 Corn
- 🌾 Rye
- 🌾 Wheat
- 🌱 Malted barley
Distilled in 2015 and matured for 10 years, the bourbon is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
According to Buffalo Trace, Four Grain delivers a rich and balanced profile with notes of:
- 🍮 Caramel
- 🍦 Vanilla
- 🍫 Chocolate
- 🌶️ Gentle baking spices
The finish is long, smooth and lightly spiced, showcasing the complexity created by the four-grain recipe.
The Return of the Rare Cured Oak Bourbon
First released in 2015, E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak Bourbon has become one of the more unusual releases in the Taylor lineup.
This Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon is also aged for 10 years and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), but what sets it apart is the barrel construction.
The whiskey matured in barrels made from white oak staves air-dried for 13 months, more than twice the industry-standard curing period. According to Buffalo Trace, the extended drying process allows deeper interaction between spirit and oak, creating a richer and more layered flavor profile.
Tasting notes include:
- 🚬 Tobacco
- 🍇 Dried fruits
- 🍦 Vanilla
- 🍬 Toffee
- 🪵 Mature oak
The finish is described as long, dry and oak-forward.
Availability
Both expressions will be released during 2026 with a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750ml bottle.
E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain will be available at Buffalo Trace Distillery, Sazerac House Gift Shops and selected retailers in Kentucky and Louisiana.
E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak will be distributed through Sazerac’s network to selected retailers, bars and restaurants.
