Boann Distillery has announced the launch of Boann Legacy Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, a new permanent addition to its core range and a whiskey designed to celebrate both Ireland’s rich distilling heritage and the future of the category.
The new expression will take centre stage at the distillery’s annual Summer Solstice Celebration, held on 18 June 2026 at its home in County Meath.
Crafted using a distinctive mash bill of malted and unmalted barley, oats, and rye, Boann Legacy reflects the distillery’s commitment to traditional Irish whiskey-making while embracing innovation and modern flavour exploration.
What makes the release particularly unique is its maturation. The whiskey is created from a marriage of spirit matured in seven different cask types:
- Bourbon
- Oloroso Sherry
- Pedro Ximénez Sherry
- Palo Cortado Sherry
- Amontillado Sherry
- Moscatel
- French Oak
The result is a whiskey that pays tribute to the generations of farmers, coopers, maltsters, distillers and winemakers who have shaped Irish whiskey over the last 700 years.
At the same time, the release honours the Cooney family, whose influence on the Irish drinks industry spans more than five decades.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Rich aromas of toffee apple, orchard fruits and classic sherry influence, complemented by playful notes of cola gummies.
Palate
A silky and approachable mouthfeel delivers layers of honey, caramel, delicate florals and citrus zest, followed by candied ginger and classic Single Pot Still spice.
Limited Cask Strength Edition
To mark the launch, Boann will release an exclusive Cask Strength Edition bottled at 59.2% ABV.
Limited to just 777 individually numbered bottles worldwide, the special release will debut during the Summer Solstice event before becoming available online and at the distillery while stocks last.
The cask strength version carries an RRP of €85, while the core release is bottled at 40% ABV and will retail for €55.
The packaging takes inspiration from the distillery’s copper pot stills, showcasing the natural evolution of copper from its bright polished appearance to the distinctive verdigris patina that develops over time.
With its complex cask recipe, rich flavour profile and strong connection to Irish whiskey heritage, Boann Legacy represents one of the distillery’s most ambitious releases to date.
