In a groundbreaking collaboration, Moët Hennessy, a subsidiary of LVMH, has teamed up with global icon Beyoncé Knowles-Carter to introduce SirDavis, an innovative American rye whisky. This partnership marks a significant moment in the whisky industry, blending Moët Hennessy’s legacy of craftsmanship with Beyoncé’s artistic vision and deep appreciation for fine spirits.
The creation of SirDavis has been a meticulous journey, driven by Knowles-Carter’s passion for whisky, particularly Japanese varieties. Recognizing an opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to the American whisky market, she approached Moët Hennessy with the idea of crafting a whisky that reflects her unique palate and style. This collaboration is not just a business venture but a testament to the shared dedication to excellence that both parties bring to the table.
To bring SirDavis to life, Moët Hennessy enlisted Dr. Bill Lumsden, a celebrated Master Distiller known for his expertise with Glenmorangie and Ardbeg whiskies. Together, they crafted a distinct mash bill, featuring 51% rye and 49% malted barley, a rare blend that sets SirDavis apart in the American whisky landscape. This blend is further enhanced by a secondary maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, adding layers of richness and complexity to the whisky’s flavor profile.
“With SirDavis, we aimed to challenge the norms of the whisky industry and create something truly exceptional,” said Dr. Lumsden. “The unique grain selection and sherry cask finish give SirDavis a bold yet sophisticated character that is unlike any other whisky on the market.“
The whisky’s name, SirDavis, pays homage to Beyoncé’s paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, who was a moonshiner in the South during Prohibition. This personal connection adds a layer of depth and authenticity to the brand, further emphasizing its roots in American tradition.
SirDavis has already made waves in the spirits industry, securing top honors at several prestigious competitions before its official launch. The whisky won Best In Class for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards, as well as a Gold Medal at the 2023 New York International Spirits Competition, solidifying its status as a premium offering.
The bottle design, overseen by Knowles-Carter herself, reflects her visionary approach to artistry. The sleek, ribbed glass bottle features a black medallion with a bronzed horse, symbolizing strength and her Texas heritage. This attention to detail makes SirDavis not just a whisky, but a statement piece.
SirDavis American Rye Sherry Cask Finish is priced at $89 and is available for pre-order now, with official dispatch starting in early September. The whisky will be available nationwide and internationally, including key airports such as LAX, JFK, and SFO, as well as in London, Paris, and Tokyo.
