Derbyshire’s White Peak Distillery has launched its latest creation: Wire Works Bourbon Barrel single malt, marking a significant milestone as their oldest whisky to date and the first to be fully matured in ex-bourbon barrels.
White Peak Distillery, nestled in the heart of Derbyshire, England, is making waves in the whisky world with the introduction of its newest single malt. The Wire Works Bourbon Barrel stands out not only as the distillery’s oldest release but also as a pioneer in their lineup for being entirely matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels.
Journey from 2016 to the Present
This exceptional single malt includes some of the initial casks filled after White Peak’s establishment in 2016. The spirit carries the distillery’s signature lightly peated profile, a characteristic that has won them numerous accolades in previous releases.
Max Vaughan, the founder of White Peak Distillery, expressed his enthusiasm about the new release: “We’re thrilled to introduce our second permanent expression, expanding our core range of whiskies following the success of Caduro last year. The Bourbon Barrel single malt is a signature whisky for us, elevating our house style and showcasing our unique flavour elements derived from our Derbyshire home, lightly peated malt barley, fresh local brewer’s yeast, long fermentation, and slow distillation.“

The Wire Works Bourbon Barrel single malt, boasting an ABV of 53.5%, is bottled non-chill filtered and retains its natural colour. It will be available from July 5th through the distillery’s shop, their online store, and selected retailers and trade partners nationwide. The recommended retail price is £65, making it a premium yet accessible choice for whisky enthusiasts.
