Wild Atlantic Distillery Brings History Back: First Whiskey from County Tyrone in Over 100 Years

After over a century, Irish whiskey distilling returns to County Tyrone and Derry with the debut of The IslandMen 1921 by Wild Atlantic Distillery. This December, Wild Atlantic marks a significant milestone with the launch of its first-ever whiskey release since opening in Aghyaran in 2019, having produced gin and vodka to date. This limited-edition release is set to revive the rich distilling heritage of the region, celebrating the spirit and resilience of Irish craftsmanship.

A special ballot will determine who can secure one of the approximately 380 bottles, drawn from inaugural cask 001. Each bottle represents the region’s first whiskey production since Watt Distillery closed its doors in 1921. The whiskey was distilled and laid down on 21 December 2021 and will reach its three-year maturation just in time for release. Final bottle numbers, ABV, and price will be revealed closer to the launch.

To join the ballot and be part of this historic release, interested buyers can register on the distillery’s website by 14 December.
