White Peak Distillery marks 10th anniversary with limited Caduro X release

White Peak Distillery is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with the launch of Wire Works Caduro X, a limited-edition English single malt whisky that reflects a decade of production at its Derbyshire site.

Founded in 2016 and located at the historic former wire works in Ambergate, the distillery has focused on provenance, process and flavour development, with Caduro X positioned as a milestone release within its Wire Works portfolio.

The whisky is a vatting of first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and STR (shaved, toasted, re-charred) ex-red wine casks, combining different maturation styles to build complexity. The release also incorporates both “regular” and “alternate” cut-point distillations, designed to enhance tropical fruit character while introducing a subtle increase in peat influence.

Further production detail includes the use of “special waters” during reduction, a technique involving the maturation of low-strength spirit in oak casks to extract additional flavour compounds before bottling. Caduro X is bottled at 46.8% ABV, presented at natural colour and without chill filtration.

Only 1,000 bottles have been produced.

Tasting notes indicate a profile built around sweet, fruity and lightly smoky characteristics:

Nose: Banoffee pie, custard, baked apple, strawberry sweets, orange zest, light peat
Palate: Cinnamon pastry, butter icing, pineapple, milk chocolate, marmalade, gentle spice
Finish: Toffee, ginger, honey, apple sweets and soft smoke

According to co-founder Claire Vaughan, the release reflects the distillery’s ongoing experimentation across mashing, fermentation, distillation and maturation, as well as the evolution of its house style over the past decade.

Wire Works Caduro X will be available from 25 April 2026 via the distillery, online, and selected UK retailers, with an RRP of £75.
