WhistlePig Whiskey has announced the launch of The BigShǝBàng Aged 30 Years, the oldest and rarest release in the distillery’s history.
Following in the footsteps of The Béhôlden Aged 21 Years and The Badönkådonk Aged 25 Years, The BigShǝBàng was distilled from 100% malted barley at Glenora Distillery in Canada, the oldest single malt distillery in North America.
Presented as a single barrel product and bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV), each expression spent 30 years in ex-Bourbon American oak before being finished in Vin Santo casks, previously used to hold the Italian dessert wine made from white grapes.
Tasting notes describe the whisky as offering aromas of honeyed bread, wheat crust, and nuanced florality. The palate delivers subtle clove, freshly kneaded dough, and honeysuckle, while the finish lingers with toasted cedar and delicate sweetness.
WhistlePig The BigShǝBàng is now available at select retailers across the U.S. with a suggested retail price of $4,999.99 per 750 mL bottle.
This year’s release is limited to just four barrels, accompanied by small re-releases of The Béhôlden Aged 21 Years ($899.99) and The Badönkådonk Aged 25 Years ($1,999.99).
