The world’s smokiest, peatiest Islay malt whisky has opened the doors of its boutique hotel Ardbeg House, offering visitors and the island’s community a unique opportunity to eat, sleep and drink Ardbeg. Located just a short walk from the distillery in Port Ellen, Islay, this world-class whisky and hospitality experience combines Scottish warmth with the unmistakable character of Ardbeg.
Since Ardbeg was saved from extinction in 1997, the whisky has risen to cult status, attracting thousands of pilgrims to the distillery each year. With the opening of Ardbeg House, whisky lovers can now immerse themselves in the smoky universe of Ardbeg morning, noon, and night.
Designed in collaboration with Russell Sage Studio, the boutique hotel showcases the best of Islay, featuring handcrafted pieces by over 20 Scottish and Islay artisans. Twelve suites and bedrooms blend playful details with Ardbeg’s own brand of luxury – from copper wall art crafted from a retired still to a boat chandelier and even “Press for Smoke” buttons that reveal hidden drams.
Guests can enjoy exceptional Scottish food and drink in the Signature Restaurant and Islay Bar, with menus infused with Ardbeg character. From hand-dived scallops to Ardbeg-inspired dishes and exclusive bottlings like Ardbeg Homecoming and Ardbeg House Reserve, every detail is designed to celebrate Islay. Outside, the Untamed Courtyard features a handcrafted smoker and grill, mirroring the whisky’s signature smoky notes.
Immersive experiences include exclusive distillery tours, explorations of Islay’s landscapes and wildlife, and the daily ritual of whisky hour at 18:15, where guests gather at the bar to taste Ardbeg Badger Juice – a secret small-batch whisky available only by the dram at Ardbeg House.
