Torabhaig Distillery has released the sixth expression in its acclaimed Legacy Series: Sound of Sleat Batch Strength. This new bottling intensifies the smoky, maritime character of the core Sound of Sleat, raising the ABV from 46% to a robust 60.2%.
The Legacy Series is described by the distillery as a countdown to a future 10-year-old single malt, with earlier releases including Legacy Series 2017, Allt Gleann, Allt Gleann Batch Strength, and Cnoc Na Mòine.
Taking its name from the narrow stretch of sea that separates the Isle of Skye from the Scottish mainland, Sound of Sleat Batch Strength continues the distillery’s commitment to celebrating place and provenance.
Crafted from Concerto and Laureate barley peated to 78ppm, the whisky is matured exclusively in American oak – a mix of ex-Bourbon and new oak casks. With a residual phenol level of 14.5ppm, it delivers aromas of smoke, brine, and sweet oak spice, alongside hints of tobacco, orange, barley sugar, apricot, seaweed, and peat smoke. On the palate, expect flavours of bonfire embers, vanilla, white pepper, and a distinctive waxy mouthfeel.

The release is limited to 15,000 bottles worldwide, available at an RRP of £75 (US$100).
