The newest release from the Isle of Skye’s Torabhaig Distillery is now official: Torabhaig Sound of Sleat marks the fourth chapter in the distillery’s evolving Legacy Series — a journey toward a future 10-year-old core expression and a space for continuous stylistic exploration.
The whisky is crafted from Concerto and Laureate malted barley, peated to over 78 PPM, with a residual phenol content of 14.5 PPM. It was matured in American oak casks, both first-fill and refill bourbon barrels, with the addition of new American oak, enhancing its spice and depth. The result is a whisky rich in citrus, maritime salt, and bonfire smoke, true to Torabhaig’s signature coastal peat style.
What sets this release apart is the introduction of a new design direction for the series. The label and outer packaging for Sound of Sleat were created by Skye-based artist Ellis O’Connor, the first in what Torabhaig hints could be an ongoing collaboration with local artists.

Tasting Notes (official):
Nose: Orange zest layered with apricot and popcorn, leading to seaweed and pipe tobacco. A touch of honey, vanilla, and boiled sweets.
Palate: Oak spice and sweet bonfire smoke meet subtle waxiness and coastal salinity. Balanced with honey, vanilla, white pepper, and gentle spice.
Finish: Long, elegant, and evocative – reminiscent of a sunset over the Sound of Sleat, with lingering notes of honey, storm, and sea air.
The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, retains its natural colour, and is non-chill filtered. It will be available at a recommended retail price of £57 / €67, with a global outturn of 45,000 bottles.
