Independent whisky company Livingstone has launched Macbeth Act II, the second of five acts in The Macbeth Collection, featuring eight limited edition single malts. The collection, inspired by William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, will eventually represent 42 characters from the iconic play, with each bottle showcasing character drawings by Sir Quentin Blake.
Following the success of Act I in 2023, Act II highlights a main ‘regal’ character, Lord Macduff, through 100 bottles of a 45-year-old Bunnahabhain single malt. This maritime-style whisky, bottled at 40.8% ABV, features orchard notes, barley sugar, and an elegant profile with blackberries, red fruits, baked apples, toffee, and tarragon.
The act also includes:
- ‘The Thanes’: A 27-year-old Glentauchers for Lennox, a 28-year-old Ben Nevis for Ross, and an 18-year-old Highland Park for Young Siward.
- ‘The Witches’: Represented by a 26-year-old Islay whisky aged in Bourbon and Sherry casks, offering charcoal smoke, rich vanilla, and dried fruits.
- ‘The Murderers’: The Second Murderer is a 17-year-old heavily peated Jura, delivering tannic qualities, seed cake, ginger spice, and linear peat smoke.
- ‘The Household’: A 14-year-old Clynelish for Servant and a 12-year-old Benrinnes for Soldier, adding youthful expressions to the lineup.
This act does not include ‘The Ghosts’, which represent vanishing stocks from ghost distilleries.
The bottles will be available from 13 March, through leading whisky retailers in the UK, Europe, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Canada, with prices ranging from £84.95 to £2,000
