The Macallan has announced the latest release in its Archival Series: Folio 8. This limited-edition bottling revisits one of the brand’s iconic advertisements from the 1980s and 1990s, continuing the series’ tribute to The Macallan’s rich heritage.
Folio 8 celebrates the ‘Colossus of Nose’ campaign, a playful reference to both the Colossus of Rhodes and the unmistakable aroma of The Macallan, often referred to as the “King of Malts.” As with previous releases in the series, Folio 8 is presented in a distinctive book-shaped box, accompanied by a commemorative booklet featuring vintage advertisements and brand history.
Bottled at 43% ABV, Folio 8 offers a deep Vintage Terracotta hue, with a nose of golden sultanas, ripe dates, sweet berry compote, toffee brittle, lemon peel, cinnamon, and hints of anise. The palate delivers sweet raisin, ginger, citrus zest, toffee, and sweet oak, leading to a long, rich finish with lingering oak spices.
This release will be available through The Macallan Ballot, which will open soon for entries. The ballot is limited to those with shipping addresses in the UK and the Channel Islands.
