The Macallan has launched Distil Your World Paris, the latest limited edition in its global Distil Your World series — an exploration of leading destinations through the lens of single malt Scotch whisky.
Crafted by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell in collaboration with Joan and Josep Roca, owners of El Celler de Can Roca — twice named the World’s Best Restaurant — the release is described as a “love letter to the elegance, sophistication and gastronomic artistry” of Paris.
Created from a complex combination of sherry-seasoned American oak casks, sherry-seasoned European oak casks, ex-bourbon casks, and Cognac casks, the whisky is married and bottled at 47.2% ABV. The cask selection delivers a layered flavour profile designed to capture the essence of Parisian culinary culture — from patisserie and perfumery to fine dining ritual.
On the nose, it reveals aromas of almond croissants, rose, sweet nectarines, sandalwood and vanilla pods. The palate offers notes of buttered pastry, brioche, peach melba, mille-feuille and toasted oak, leading to a finish of gentle spices and warm oak. The natural colour is described as “Parisian Sunrise.”
The project was inspired by the French philosophy of “l’art de la table” and “l’art de vivre” — the art of dining and the art of living — which define Paris’ globally celebrated gastronomic identity. During their journey, Campbell and Joan Roca were joined by Anne-Sophie Pic, the acclaimed French chef currently holding eight Michelin stars, exploring the traditions and excellence that shape the capital’s cuisine.
Kirsteen Campbell said:
“This whisky is a deeply personal creation, inspired by my time in Paris with Joan Roca and Anne-Sophie Pic. Paris embodies elegance, passion and sophistication, and I embraced the challenging yet beautiful task of distilling its very soul into a whisky that can be savoured in a glass.”
She added:
“In this whisky, Parisian bread and patisserie take centre stage. Led by American sherry-seasoned casks, supported by European sherry and ex-bourbon casks, with the addition of Cognac casks, the result has an unmistakably Parisian accent — a tribute to the city’s timeless allure and art de vivre.”
Distil Your World Paris is presented in a striking white gift box featuring a map tracing Campbell’s journey through the city, with sculptural elevations of key landmarks. Inside, a warm “street yellow” backdrop reflects the glow of Parisian street lamps along the River Seine. The interior artwork, created by Paris-based artist Cassandre Montoriol, showcases her distinctive gouache style, depicting a lively table d’hôte scene on a quintessential Parisian street at dusk.
The release is available now directly from The Macallan and selected retailers with a suggested retail price of $4,750.
