Continuing its celebration of 200 years of whisky mastery, following the release of Tales of The Macallan Volume II, The Macallan has introduced the Time: Space Collection. This new collection features two remarkable releases that embody the brand’s mastery and historical legacy.
Time: Space
The first release, Time: Space, is a dual chamber vessel showcasing The Macallan’s oldest whisky ever released—an 84-year-old single malt, housed in the outer chamber. This whisky was matured in two Sherry-seasoned casks, one American oak and one European oak, bringing forth a rich, deep flavor profile. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, the whisky reveals notes of charred pineapple, baked peaches, and rich resinous undertones, leading to a finish of dark chocolate and toasted oak.
In the central chamber is a vintage 2018 single malt, the first from The Macallan’s new distillery. This five-year-old whisky, offering notes of golden sultanas, baked apples, and hints of lemon and lime, represents the future of the distillery.
The vessel is displayed in an oak sculpture, meticulously designed to emphasize the whisky’s natural color. Only 200 of these dual expressions have been crafted, one for each year of The Macallan’s history. The collection is available by invitation only, with the price disclosed upon application.
Time: Space Mastery
The second release, Time: Space Mastery, is a unique single malt created from 14 different cask types, reflecting 200 years of The Macallan’s whisky-making heritage. This whisky offers complex layers of flavor, with notes of Medjool dates, baked figs, milk chocolate, and hints of tropical fruit.
The whisky is housed in a circular vessel symbolizing the circle of life, with a vibrant red presentation case featuring 200 spikes, representing The Macallan’s bicentennial year. This intricate design was inspired by origami and aims to symbolize the brand’s connection to nature.
Time: Space Mastery will be available through The Macallan, as well as via The Macallan Society Ballot in the UK and Europe.
Global Marketing Campaign
The launch of the Time: Space Collection is supported by a global marketing campaign, featuring two films that explore The Macallan’s connection to nature. The campaign will be unveiled on 8 October, with high-impact 3D billboards in locations like The Sphere in Las Vegas and Piccadilly Circus in London, along with an integrated digital and print presence.
