The Macallan has added two new limited-edition single malts to its Harmony Collection, in collaboration with premium tea brand JING. These whisky expressions draw inspiration from rare teas and are packaged in boxes crafted from repurposed tea leaves, underscoring The Macallan’s commitment to sustainable luxury.
The first expression is inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid tea, a rare oolong from China’s Phoenix Mountain range. Matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned American oak casks, this whisky offers flavour profiles described in official tasting notes as summery peach, apricot, tropical fruit, and toffee. Bottled at 43.9% ABV and priced at $207 (~£152), it became available from August 5 through select UK retailers including Harrods, Berry Bros. & Rudd, and The Whisky Exchange.
The second expression takes cues from JING’s Organic Cherrywood Lapsang tea, reimagined in the UK by smoking over cherrywood. That smoke character is mirrored in the whisky, matured chiefly in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, with tasting notes of rich toffee, dates, warming spice, ripe berries, and charred citrus peel. Bottled at 44.9% ABV, this variant will be available exclusively from Global Travel Retail starting 1 October.
Both whiskies are presented in eco-friendly packaging made from reclaimed tea materials, transforming agricultural waste into elegant luxury presentation boxes in line with The Macallan’s eco-conscious design ethos.
