Ardbeg has unveiled the final, 15-year-old installment of its Anthology Series: The Beithir’s Tale. This limited-edition release honors a mythical serpent said to have once roamed Islay and represents Ardbeg’s first use of custom-designed bourbon casks, meticulously engineered for optimal maturation.
These bespoke casks are air-seasoned, heavily toasted, and lightly charred—crafted to unlock waves of smoked butter and vanilla, seamlessly integrated with Ardbeg’s signature peat character over a full 15 years. The result is a whisky defined by creamy textures and aromatic depth, balanced with sharp bursts of menthol, eucalyptus, and pine.
The Beithir’s Tale completes the trilogy of experimental Anthology releases:
– The Harpy’s Tale (13 years): A fusion of Ardbeg and its first-ever Sauternes-cask matured whisky.
– The Unicorn’s Tale (14 years): A marriage of bourbon-aged Ardbeg with Madeira-cask maturation.
Each expression draws inspiration from a mythological creature linked to the wild shores of Islay.

The Beithir’s Tale has already earned top accolades: the Spirit Gold Outstanding (98 points) at the 2025 International Wine & Spirits Competition and a Gold Medal at the International Spirits Challenge.
Bottled at 46% ABV, this rare peated whisky is priced at £135 and will be available from 12 August exclusively through Ardbeg Embassies.
