Founded in 2011, Lakes Distillery, located in England’s Lake District, has released numerous whisky expressions. Now, the distillery unveils its first permanent whisky as part of its Core Range: Lakes Distillery Signature, crafted by whisky maker Sarah Burgess. This single malt embodies the Lakes region’s character with a sherry-influenced profile.

Lakes Distillery Signature is bottled at 47% ABV and priced at £85 in the UK. According to Burgess, it delivers aromas of polished oak, dried fruits, pecans, dark chocolate, and orange zest. The palate unfolds with spiced notes, sweet raisins, figs, and stewed orchard fruits, followed by hints of citrus and syrupy richness, leading to a deep oaky finish.
Presented in a gift box inspired by the surrounding waters of the distillery, this release represents a milestone for Lakes Distillery. According to The Spirits Business, approximately 60–70% of the distillery’s production will be dedicated to Signature, with the remaining portion allocated for special editions. Eric Hereema, CEO of Nyetimber Group, which acquired the distillery, has hinted that limited releases will become far rarer than before, emphasizing their exclusivity.
