The GlenAllachie has introduced a new single malt: the 17-Year-Old Mizunara & Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish, the first release in its Masters of Wood series.
Created by Billy Walker, a master whisky maker with over 52 years of expertise, The GlenAllachie continues to push the boundaries of cask innovation. This new limited-edition whisky has been matured in a combination of rare Mizunara oak barrels and rich Oloroso Sherry casks, resulting in a unique fusion of flavors.
Mizunara, a rare Japanese oak known for its challenges in cooperage and maturation, imparts sweet spice, sandalwood, and charred oak notes. The inclusion of Oloroso Sherry puncheons and hogsheads, sourced from Spain’s Andalusia region, adds layers of nutty, dried fruit flavors that balance the whisky’s rich profile.
Speaking on the launch, Walker stated:
“This release combines the finest and rarest casks, creating a spectacular single malt with indulgent notes of apple strudel, honey, chocolate-covered hazelnuts, and ginger. Working with Mizunara is always challenging, but the result is beyond rewarding.”
Bottled at 50% ABV and free from artificial coloring or chill filtration, this limited expression is priced at £260.99 in the UK and will be available at select retailers worldwide.
