Highland Park Unveils Striking New Look for Core Range

Highland Park has revealed a fresh new look for its core range of single malts, marking a new era for the renowned Orkney distillery. The redesigned packaging, described as “clean and contemporary,” will begin rolling out from October 2024.

Inspired by the natural beauty and spirit of Orkney, the new design seeks to celebrate the unique characteristics of the distillery’s island home. Founded 226 years ago on Orkney’s rugged archipelago, Highland Park’s whisky is shaped by the island’s distinct environment. The warming Gulf Stream creates ideal conditions for long whisky maturation, while the wind-swept landscape produces floral heather-infused peat, adding a subtle aromatic smoke to the spirit.

Gordon Motion, master whisky maker at Highland Park, commented: “Our 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old whiskies represent the heart and soul of our distillery. It’s the heathered peat of Orkney that gives us our signature smoky flavour, which our community loves. The packaging update gives us a chance to celebrate a new look while continuing to offer the same distinctive whisky.

The new packaging, designed by D8 Studio, highlights the ethereal beauty of Orkney through a bright and contemporary colour palette. The updated labels, flecked with heather, echo Highland Park’s subtle smoky flavours, while the whisky’s natural colour is now better showcased in the redesigned glass bottle. A “Product of Orkney” icon has also been engraved into the glass, further emphasizing the whisky’s provenance.

In addition to this new look, Highland Park is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability by using 100% recyclable cardboard cartons made from FSC-certified forests. This update will also extend to their global travel retail-exclusive whiskies, including the 14-, 16-, and 18-year-old expressions.
