Teeling Whiskey Releases 40-Year-Old Single Malt and Launches Scholarship Programme

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery has introduced its latest and most prestigious release, the Teeling Whiskey 40 Years Old. Distilled in 1983 and aged exclusively in an ex-bourbon barrel, this exceptional single malt is bottled at cask strength of 42.2% ABV. The release is limited to just 140 individually numbered decanters, each adorned with gold infill and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Jack Teeling, founder of Teeling Whiskey, expressed his pride in the release, stating, “We are extremely proud and lucky to be custodians of some of the oldest Irish single malt, which we have been mindfully releasing through our Vintage Reserve Collection. We are honoured to unveil the pinnacle of this collection with our new ‘modern classic’ the Teeling 40 Year Old Single Malt, one of the oldest Irish single malts ever bottled and a rare piece of Irish whiskey history, 40 years in the making.”

In conjunction with the launch of the Teeling 40 Years Old, the company has announced the Phoenix Rising Scholarship Programme in partnership with Technological University Dublin. This initiative aims to support the next generation of innovators in the Irish brewing, distilling, and hospitality industries. Eligible students will receive mentorship from Teeling Whiskey employees across various departments, and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the Teeling 40 Years Old Single Malt will fund their studies.

Stephen Teeling, sales and marketing director for Teeling Whiskey, emphasized the importance of social sustainability, stating, “Social sustainability has always been a priority for us at Teeling Whiskey and we are committed to playing our part in the Dublin community, supporting those across our industry. We can think of no better use of our new 40 Year Old than to help us support and inspire the new generation of Irish whiskey makers.

The Teeling 40 Years Old Single Malt will be initially available at the Teeling Whiskey Distillery, retailing at €15,000 (£12,850) per 700ml, before being offered to select partners both domestically and internationally. For more information, visit the Teeling Whiskey website or the distillery.
