Tailored Spirits Co., a new independent bottler based in Leith, Edinburgh, has introduced its first whisky collection, The Experimental Series. This inaugural release consists of three limited-edition Highland single malts, each bottled at cask strength in 50cl format, with fewer than 100 bottles per expression.
The series explores innovative maturation techniques, including finishes in Oloroso Montilla bloodtubs, Ribera del Duero wine casks, and Cognac barriques. Each whisky in the collection reflects the company’s ethos of curiosity, exploration, and innovation in single cask bottling.

- Croftengea 7 Year Old (AXIS) – 58.8% ABV
Matured in a first-fill Oloroso Montilla American Oak bloodtub, delivering a rich and peated profile with notes of pine forest, cigar smoke, and blackberry reduction.- 52 bottles available – £59.50
- Fettercairn 13 Year Old (BUCK) – 54.1% ABV
Initially matured in inactive wood, then re-racked into a first-fill Ribera del Duero red wine barrique, enhancing the whisky with cherry chocolate, marzipan, and baked stone fruit flavors.- 84 bottles available – £74.50
- Ardmore 8 Year Old (CLAW) – 60.4% ABV
A lightly peated whisky matured first in ex-bourbon casks, before finishing in a first-fill Cognac barrique, offering layers of Manuka honey, butterscotch, and candied lemon.- 60 bottles available – £64.50
Each bottle features a design inspired by travel luggage labels, evoking whisky lovers’ journeys and experiences. A unique lab ticket system assigns each release a four-letter code, allowing collectors to track their acquisitions. Customers who collect six lab tickets will gain exclusive access to a future special experimental release.
Tailored Spirits Co. aims to bridge the gap between private cask ownership and commercial whisky bottling. Founded by industry professionals Tom Costello, Carl Johnstone, and Adam Harding, the company specializes in privately owned whisky casks, guiding clients through the complexities of bottling projects.
Since its 2024 launch, Tailored Spirits Co. has gained industry recognition, winning the Scottish Edge entrepreneurial competition and securing £100,000 in funding.
