Springbank Distillery has revealed the highly anticipated 2025 release of The Countdown Collection, continuing its journey towards the landmark 200th Anniversary in 2028. This exclusive release, aged for 30 years, was crafted from a marriage of one fresh bourbon cask, one refill bourbon cask, and one refill sherry cask, all matured entirely within Springbank’s warehouses.
Only 500 bottles of this limited-edition whisky will be made available worldwide, offered in 70cl bottles at an ABV of 47.3%. Priced at £2500 (including VAT), the bottles will be distributed via a ballot running from Monday 24th March midday (GMT) to Wednesday 26th March midday (GMT).
The 2025 release follows the second release of the series, a 26 Year Old expression, crafted from three refill Bourbon hogsheads and bottled at 51.2% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of red apple, peach, and raspberry emerge, with hints of dunnage and caramel developing over time.
Palate: A creamy texture with subtle oak, featuring notes of lemon rind, kiwi fruit, clotted cream, and leather.
Finish: Sweet and lingering, with soft fudge and tea leaf undertones.
This release marks the third installment of the Countdown Collection, with each bottle serving as a tribute to Springbank’s enduring commitment to traditional whisky-making. The series will continue annually until the milestone celebration in 2028.
