Octomore Fifteen: The Essence of Peat

Since its debut in 2008, Octomore Single Malt has continuously challenged conventional whisky wisdom. Known for its super heavily peated character, matured for five years and bottled close to cask strength, Octomore exemplifies what is often deemed impossible in whisky production—combining intense peat with surprising elegance. This ongoing experiment delves into the influence of terroir, cask management, and varying peat levels on the final flavor profile, resulting in a series where each edition has its own distinct and unique character.

Adam Hannett, Head Distiller, reflects on the Octomore series: “This is a whisky that is layered and complex; there’s nothing else like it. Creating a brand-new Octomore series each year, which is unique and distinct, is a welcome challenge. It is a moment to pause, reflect, question, and keep pushing. Who knows what will come next.”

Octomore Edition 15.1

Edition 15.1 presents a symphony of vanilla, custard, sweet charred oak, and earthy smoke. Distilled from 100% Scottish barley and malted to 108.2 PPM, this super heavily peated single malt showcases the profound impact of intense peat combined with the character of first-fill bourbon barrels.

Octomore Edition 15.2

Octomore 15.2 offers an intricate balance of nutmeg, toasted oak, and caramel, all harmonized with elegant peat smoke. This edition, distilled from 100% Scottish barley and malted to 108.2 PPM, is matured in a combination of wine, bourbon, and ex-cognac casks, creating a whisky where refinement meets intensity.

Octomore Edition 15.3

Edition 15.3 dives deep into bold and complex flavors, featuring notes of smoked cinder toffee, ripe fruits, and creamy vanilla. Distilled from Islay-grown barley sourced just two miles from the distillery, and malted to an extraordinary 307.2 PPM, each dram of 15.3 offers an adventurous experience unlike any other.
