A Landmark Release
Maison Martell’s latest offering, the Martell Single Cru collection, marks a significant milestone for the brand as it is the first collection where every cognac is crafted with eaux-de-vie from a single terroir. Inspired by Jean Martell, the founder of Maison Martell in 1715, this collection was curated by cellar master Christophe Valtaud.
A Vision of Excellence
Speaking about the collection, Valtaud expressed, “From the very beginning, the ethos of Maison Martell has been to express the best of the Cognac terroir. With Martell Single Cru, a rare and prestigious collection representing less than 1% of Martell cognacs, my aim was to reveal the richness and diversity of the very finest crus. My hope is that this aromatic exploration of the Cognac region will resonate with adventurous cognac enthusiasts, broadening their palates and minds to new tastes, allowing them to build their own personal collection that reflects their preferences and the joy of discovery.”
Collection Overview
The Martell Single Cru collection serves as an exploration of the crus of Cognac and is set to expand over time. It has been introduced in three editions of increasing age: Discovery, Aged, and Vintage.
Discovery Edition
The Discovery edition serves as an entry point for enthusiasts seeking to explore the Cognac region. This edition comprises three cognacs, each crafted with eaux-de-vie sourced from a single cru – Fins Bois, Petite Champagne, and Borderies.
Aged Edition
The Aged Edition will be enriched annually and released in small batches of individually numbered bottles, always featuring eaux-de-vie from Borderies and Grande Champagne. The initial releases in the Aged Edition include Martell Single Cru XO Grande Champagne and Martell Single Cru XXO Borderies.
Vintage Edition
Each year, a new cognac will be added to the Vintage Edition, featuring a single eau-de-vie from a single terroir produced in a single year. These will be released in extremely limited quantities for collectors. The inaugural release in the Vintage Edition is Martell Single Cru Borderies 1999, crafted with an eau-de-vie from the Gallienne estate, the vineyard of the Martell family, and aged in fine-grained oak barrels for 23 years.
Availability
Martell Single Cru The Discovery Edition & The Aged Edition XO are currently available, while Martell Single Cru The Aged Edition XXO & The Vintage Edition are set to be available in early 2024 at selected retail stores in Mainland China and throughout Asia (South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia), as well as at the Martell boutique in Cognac.
