Chivas Brothers-owned Longmorn Distillery has unveiled its oldest expression to date, the Longmorn 30-Year-Old, a single malt crafted to represent the Speyside distillery’s 130-year heritage. This expression joins Longmorn’s 18- and 22-year-old single malts, completing the brand’s newly redesigned portfolio.
Aged for at least three decades in hogsheads and American oak barrels, the Longmorn 30-Year-Old offers a rich, full-bodied experience, bottled at cask strength. Released annually in limited single batches, it promises an exclusive experience for those who appreciate aged whisky at its peak.
The tasting profile of Longmorn 30-Year-Old is a masterful blend of flavors: on the nose, it presents rich caramel, set honey, raspberry jam, dark cherries, ripe plums, and hints of toasted oak and nutmeg. The palate reveals treacle cake, roasted walnuts, dark fudge, with spiced red apples, dried apricots, and a touch of cinnamon spice, embodying the depth and complexity expected of a 30-year-old whisky.
Kevin Balmforth, Longmorn’s cask master at Chivas Brothers, highlighted the dedication to craftsmanship behind this expression: “Creating the ultimate expression of Longmorn in this new 30-Year-Old single malt has been an endeavor that draws on the vast knowledge of Longmorn cask experts. This special single malt embraces Speyside style and lets the purity of the spirit shine through.”
The Longmorn 30-Year-Old, priced at €1,750 (US$1,883), will be available globally starting mid-November 2024.
