The Last Drop Distillers has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024 collection, featuring a trio of exquisite releases that showcase the artistry of time in whisky and rum production.
Among the standout offerings are two remarkable single malt Scotch whiskies—one aged 40 years from Auchentoshan and another aged 55 years from Tomintoul—as well as a captivating 22-year-old Caribbean rum blend.
The Auchentoshan 40 Years Old (Release No 34, 44.8% ABV) epitomizes the profound impact of long maturation on this delicate triple-distilled Lowland spirit. With only 74 bottles (RRP : £4,200.00) available, this expression reveals the depth and richness that time imparts to Auchentoshan’s renowned profile.
In contrast, the Tomintoul 55 Years Old (Release No 36, 41.7% ABV) is a testament to the Speyside distillery’s early days, distilled shortly after its opening in 1965. After maturing for 53 years in oak casks, the spirit was finished in an amoroso sherry butt for an additional 20 months, resulting in a complex and rare whisky limited to just 582 bottles (RRP : £6,600.00).
Rebecca Jago, managing director of The Last Drop Distillers, expressed excitement about the collection, highlighting the unique elements each release brings to the portfolio. She emphasized the originality of the Auchentoshan process, the serendipitous discovery of the ‘infinity rum’, and the innovative spirit captured in Tomintoul’s early years.
The Last Drop 2024 Collection will be available in both 700ml bottles and 50ml miniatures, offering enthusiasts an opportunity to experience these extraordinary expressions firsthand.
