Lagavulin and Caol Ila unveil Fèis Ìle 2025 limited editions

Diageo has unveiled the highly anticipated Fèis Ìle 2025 festival releases from two of Islay’s most iconic distilleries — Lagavulin and Caol Ila.

Lagavulin Fèis Ìle 2025 15 Year-Old is a limited edition of 1,596 bottles, finished in Moscatel de Málaga casks. It delivers aromas of salted toffee, ripe berries, and distinctive maritime notes. The palate is luxuriously smooth and creamy, balancing sweetness, salt, spice, and smoke, with a long, drying finish featuring fragrant smoke and Sichuan pepper spice. Bottled at 55.7% ABV, it will be available at the festival and on malts.com, priced at £240.

Caol Ila Fèis Ìle 2025 8 Year-Old is a limited edition of 1,476 bottles, matured in a combination of refill casks and Pedro Ximénez/Oloroso-seasoned casks, before a final finish in new Colombian oak casks. It offers a smooth, oily texture with sweet and spicy notes enhancing Caol Ila’s characteristic smoke. Bottled at 55.8% ABV, it will be priced at £110, available at the distillery and via malts.com.

Sales for both releases will begin at their respective Fèis Ìle open days:

  • Lagavulin – available from 24 May 2025
  • Caol Ila – available from 26 May 2025

Following the festival, both bottlings will also be sold at their distilleries and on malts.com.

Special events are scheduled during the festival:

  • Lagavulin Day (24 May) — “Beyond The Smoke”, a sensory tasting experience hosted by Jordan Paisley and Barry Nisbet, including a rare Lagavulin 17 Year-Old dram.
  • Caol Ila Day (26 May) — “Flavour & History”, an interactive blending workshop where participants will create their own 200ml custom whisky, hosted by Rory Slater and Jo McKerchar.
  • Manager’s Evening (28 May) — a panel session with managers from Caol Ila, Lagavulin, Port Ellen, and The Maltings, featuring premium malt tastings.
